Columbia Fire & Rescue Responds to Structure Fire on Locust Street

At approximately 7:13pm on Saturday, Oct 8, Columbia Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 903 Locust St.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the structure. Crews entered the home to find fire in the kitchen that had extended from the stove to the cabinets above. CFR was able to swiftly extinguish the fire without incident. No injuries have been reported.

According to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) cooking causes 49% of all reported home fires, 20% of reported home fire deaths, and 42% of home fire injuries. Please always keep fire safety in mind while preparing meals in your kitchen at home!
