An officer with the Columbia Police Department has been recognized for his work in recovering stolen property and helping close multiple theft-related cases.
Officer Seltz was named the department’s Officer of the Month for December 2025 following an investigation that began with a license plate reader alert connected to a wanted theft suspect.
According to the department, Officer Seltz responded to the alert and followed up at the registered owner’s address, where the vehicle owner was also the individual wanted in connection with the theft.
While investigating at the location, Officer Seltz observed items in plain view that had previously been reported stolen. His efforts led to the recovery of those items, which were returned to their rightful owners, along with additional stolen property connected to a separate incident.
Department officials said Officer Seltz’s work ultimately led to his recognition as the Columbia Police Department’s Officer of the Month for December 2025.
