The Columbia Police Department has received state reaccreditation by the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP).

The announcement was made on Wednesday at a ceremony in Nashville, where TACP President Don White presented the framed accreditation certificate to Captain Brian Adams and Accreditation Manager Lieutenant Brad Ribley. The Columbia Police Department first earned state accreditation in 2017.

Accreditation is awarded by TACP every four years following a detailed review process.

As part of the reaccreditation, TACP assessors conducted an on-site review earlier this year. Their evaluation included an examination of department policies, training, supervision, and operational practices. The assessors reported that CPD continues to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and a clear commitment to community safety.

Reaccreditation reflects the collective efforts of CPD personnel and underscores the department’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards of accountability and service.

On the national level, the Columbia Police Department is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). CPD’s dual accreditations highlight its standing among professional law enforcement agencies at both the state and national levels.
