Columbia Police Lt. James Shannon Recognized with 2022 Ed Holten Award

Rotary Club – Columbia TN Noon recognized Columbia Police Lt. James Shannon on Thursday with the 2022 Chief Ed Holton Award for Community Service.

The Chief Ed Holton Award honors dedicated individuals in law enforcement for their outstanding service, performance, and remarkable achievements in the community.

Lieutenant Shannon is a 26-year veteran of The Columbia Police Department. Throughout his career, Lieutenant Shannon has dedicated himself to the service of others.

Examples of Lieutenant Shannon’s service to the citizens of this community include:

  • Retired Sergeant First Class in The United States Army Reserves with 22 years of service
  • 2010 Graduate of Leadership Maury
  • Leadership Maury board member 2011-2020
  • Education Facilitator & Instructor for Leadership Maury
  • Columbia Main Street board member 2018-2021
  • First United Methodist Church Families & Children board member 2018-2021
  • Columbia Main Street Chairperson

These are all examples of the many ways Lieutenant Shannon has dedicated himself to serving this community outside of his day-to-day job functions as a law enforcement officer. The majority of these functions are on a voluntary basis, and all serve an important role in the betterment of The City of Columbia and Maury County.
