A Columbia police officer is being honored for efforts aimed at improving community conditions and assisting individuals in need.
The Columbia Police Department announced that Sergeant Doug Faulkner has been named Officer of the Month for February 2026. Officials say he demonstrated strong initiative in addressing multiple homeless encampments located on city- and state-owned property.
During the month, Faulkner identified several encampments, made direct contact with individuals, and provided resources to help them seek housing. He also ensured those involved understood laws regarding camping on government property.
