Columbia Police honored Detective Jamiee Brown as Officer of the Month for September for her work investigating a deadly hit-and-run on Tom J. Hitch Parkway.
The case began with very limited details, but Detective Brown used license plate reader data, vehicle records and security video to track down a vehicle showing damage linked to the crash. Her investigation led to identifying the owner and securing a confession.
The department credited her persistence and thorough approach for bringing accountability in a difficult case.
