Columbia To Unveil First Safe Haven Baby Box

606

The City of Columbia will host a community unveiling ceremony for its first Safe Haven Baby Box on Wednesday, October 1, at 3:30 p.m. The event will take place at Columbia Fire Station 1, located at 1000 South Garden Street.

The project is a partnership between Columbia Fire & Rescue, the Junior League of Maury County, and Safe Haven Baby Boxes. The box provides a secure and anonymous way for parents in crisis to surrender unharmed newborns under Tennessee’s Safe Haven Law. Once a baby is placed inside, the box’s safety system immediately alerts medical personnel to ensure the child’s care.

City officials encourage residents to attend the ceremony and learn more about this new life-saving resource for the community.
