Firefighters with the Maury County Fire Department responded to a large house fire Monday morning on Glencoe Road in Culleoka.

Crews arrived around 10:11 a.m. to find heavy fire conditions in a roughly 4,000-square-foot home with flames extending into the second floor. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack, using multiple hand lines and a deck gun to knock down the fire. As crews moved inside to contain it, a significant collapse occurred, forcing all personnel to evacuate the structure. Firefighters remained on scene for more than four hours working to bring the fire under control.

During the early stages of the fire, the homeowner’s dog broke free and ran back inside the burning home. Firefighters made repeated efforts to rescue the animal and were able to safely remove it despite dangerous conditions. Officials also noted crews were working with limited staffing and little rest while handling a high call volume.
