Emergency crews spent several hours on Beard Road Saturday after old dynamite was discovered on the property. Engine 31 (Bethel) and the Special Operations Chief remained on standby to ensure the area stayed secure while waiting for specialized assistance.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol Bomb Squad arrived on scene and safely neutralized the explosives on site. Officials say aging dynamite can become highly unstable, posing a serious risk if moved or disturbed.
Residents are urged to never handle suspected explosives and to call authorities immediately for proper disposal. Thanks to the coordinated response, the incident ended without injury or damage.
