Update: September 12, 2024 – Sources have confirmed with WSMV4 that David M. Baker committed suicide at Maury County Regional.
Officials say Baker allegedly walked into the emergency department’s restroom and shot himself in the chest. The hospital was placed on lockdown following the incident.
Original: September 11, 2024 – David M. Baker, a pastor and former Maury County Mayoral candidate, now faces charges of aggravated sexual battery after he was arrested Tuesday, WSMV4 reports.
The Maury County Sheriff’s Office did not provided additional details about his arrest.
Baker was released on a $200,000 bond around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Baker serves as the pastor of Family Baptist Church in Columbia and is also the president of Independent Baptist Online College.
