GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Sarah Greiner scored her first goal of the season in the 43rd minute as Tennessee secured a 1-0 victory over Florida in SEC women’s soccer action Wednesday night at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
The Volunteers (8-5-4, 3-4-3 SEC) controlled possession and outshot the Gators (4-8-6, 1-7-2 SEC) by a 10-7 margin in a physical match that saw 27 fouls and three yellow cards. Greiner’s goal, assisted by Nyla Blue and Dakota Brown, came off a corner kick sequence.
Tennessee goalkeeper Cayden Norris earned her first win of the season with one save, while Florida’s Alexa Goldberg recorded four saves in defeat. The Volunteers dominated the first half with 65% possession, though Florida pressed late with three corner kicks in the final ten minutes.
The win boosts Tennessee’s position in the SEC standings, while Florida’s winless streak extends to five matches. Attendance was 517.
