December 20, 2023 – MCFD responded to a structure fire on Tuesday at 3:20PM, on Monsanto Rd.
Units arrived to find a single-family home with heavy fire showing from the bravo side. Due to cars in the driveway and a handicap walker in front of the door, members commenced with an aggressive fire attack and search for victims after forcing the front door.
Approximately 15 minutes into the fire attack a mayday was declared due to a member partially falling through the floor and being trapped in the floor system. Members operating in the area of the firefighters were able to pull him back up and units continued with suppression. The search of the home was negative and no civilians were injured.
Two firefighters experienced minor burns from the initial fire attack as they were holding the fire back for a search to occur on the rest of the home. Their helmets show the extent of the heat they encountered in order to protect potential victims and other members during the search.
The fire is under routine investigation by the Maury County Fire Investigation Team.
