Maury County Public Schools announced that school will be closed on Thursday, May 9, 2024 due to storm damage.
Boys and Girl’s clubs will also be closed.
“We are praying for the safety of our families. Please reach out to us if we can support you in any way,” the school district posted on social media.
A tornado was confirmed in Columbia on Wednesday evening. Damage has been reported across the area including downed trees, power lines and extensive home damage. The Columbia Police Department also reported, on Wednesday night, that Bear Creek Pk and Old Hwy 99 has downed trees and power lines completely blocking the roadway.
