Maury County Public Schools students continued to make academic gains on the 2026 Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP), with the district reporting higher proficiency rates across multiple grade levels and subject areas over the past five years.
Since 2021, overall English Language Arts proficiency has increased from 21% to 35.6%, while math proficiency has climbed from 17.8% to 33.5%. Social studies showed the largest improvement, rising from 21.3% to 43.3%.
Several grade levels posted significant five-year gains. Fourth grade math proficiency increased from 31% to 51%, while fifth grade math rose from 16.3% to 36.6%. Seventh grade math also saw major improvement, increasing from 12% to 32.6%. English II proficiency grew from 30% to 49.5%, and fourth grade English Language Arts increased from 27% to 45.7%.
Compared to last year, the district improved in 18 of 21 tested areas with comparable data. Overall math proficiency increased 3.3 percentage points to 33.5%, while social studies rose 3.5 points to 43.3%.
Fourth grade math recorded the district’s biggest year-over-year gain, increasing 9.2 percentage points to 51%. Other notable improvements included seventh grade English Language Arts, English II, eighth grade math, and fifth grade math.
“We are encouraged by the growth and improvement our students have demonstrated over the past five years,” Superintendent Lisa Ventura said. “These results reflect the dedication and hard work of our students, teachers, school leaders, families and community. While we are proud of the progress, we will continue using data to strengthen instruction and help every student reach their full potential.”
