Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage will host its annual Battle of New Orleans Commemoration from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 with Secretary of State of Tennessee Tre Hargett lined up as the keynote speaker. The event pays tribute to the American victory during the War of 1812, also known as the battle that propelled General Andrew Jackson to national fame. Grounds Passes to the site will be free to the public with a wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m.

Go out and help celebrate Glover’s Secondhand as they celebrate their second year in their new location. Every Saturday, they host a flea market, but it is more art-focused than antiques-based. Glover’s is a thrift and consignment store that sells vintage clothing, accessories, and retro-style apparel. They offer a unique collection of items that cannot be found anywhere else!

4. Marshmallow Hikes

Get out the house and go on a hike this weekend. It might even end in a delightful treat. If the snow on Thursday comes as predicted and lasts until Saturday, this is sure to be a breathtaking hike. Walk through nature, clear your mind of stress and soak in the winter wonderland on the trail at Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary. This hike will be followed by hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows.

5. Winterfest at Opryland

You can enjoy all of the winter activities at Opryland with a scavenger hunt or try Ice tubing down a four-lane, 15-foot hill made with real ice or test your driving skills with ice bumper cars. Enjoy a wintry glide on the resort’s 9,000 square-foot outdoor ice-skating rink and for additional entertainment, an all-new Fire & Ice Skating Show will take place at Pinetop, which features champion skaters, big jumps, fast spins, and awe-inspiring throws and lifts!
