1Storybook Trail: Dinosaur Lady

Visit the Storybook Trail located along the Nature Trail in Maury County Park for a monthly, seasonal story to enjoy! Their September story is “Dinosaur Lady: The Daring Discoveries of Mary Anning, the First Paleontologist” by Linda Skeers. This beautifully illustrated picture book biography of Mary Anning will enlighten children about the discovery of the dinosaurs and the importance of female scientists. Their Storybook Trail features storybooks presented on child-height panels, along a short accessible trail to promote adult-child interaction around books and nature in a healthy, outdoor activity. Books are rotated monthly, so there is always a new, seasonal story to enjoy.

2Yoga in the Garden

Polk Home Gardens
The Polk Home is partnering with the Movement Lab to offer a unique weekly yoga class this fall. Join them on Saturday mornings at 8:00am in the Polk Home’s boxwood garden! Spaces are limited and can be reserved in advance through Eventbrite. Participants should bring their own yoga mat and arrive a few minutes early to set up. In case of inclement weather, class will be canceled and tickets refunded.

3Beach Volleyball Fundraiser

Hyden Beach is hosting it’s 3rd Annual Volleyball Tournament in support of Operation Gratitude. They encourage seasoned players, recreational players, families, juniors, adults, everyone to come on out and support this great cause. 4Jailbreak Triathlon

The Columbia Cycling Club has hosted the Jailbreak Off-road Triathlon since 2002. This race is held in late September and features canoeing, mountain biking, and trail running with a partner. The race starts at the canoe put-in on the Duck River below the Maury County Jail (thus the name) and continues through Chickasaw Trace County Park for the biking and running portions.

5Sunday Brunch

You know them for their live music shows and comedian guest appearances! Now they will also be known for offering up a special Sunday brunch! Tickets on sale now for “Sunday Brunch in the Courtyard.” Slothful Waffle will be providing delicious food by order from their truck. A Bloody Mary bar will be there for those who enjoy the savory brunch drink and a champagne bar with many juices for you to mix for those who don’t! There will also be live music of course. Soulful gospel music from Marcel Fleming will be the entertainment.
