Based on Louisa May Alcott’s life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March and their formative years growing up in Civil War America. This timeless, captivating story is brought to life with beautiful music and creative staging. The beloved March sisters grow through their experiences of personal discovery, heartache, hope and, finally, everlasting love. This production is suitable for all ages with an approximate run time of 2 hours 15 minutes.

Join Asgard Brewing Company for their 3rd Annual Oktoberfest in downtown Columbia! Come hear live music and eat from several local food trucks including some German flair. Pumpkin Paradise at Satterwhite Farms is a family fun Fall Festival. They offer swings, slides, corn box, pedal track, climbing tires, inside hay maze, sit n’ play, flying pigs, gravel pit, and much more. Be sure to stop by the farmer’s garden and see what they are growing. Make sure to take a ride on the hayride, spot some cows and learn a few things about them. Do not forget to read the signs posted around the field and see what you can learn about being a farmer.

4Storybook Trail: Nightsong

Visit the Storybook Trail located along the Nature Trail in Maury County Park for a monthly, seasonal story to enjoy! Their October story is “Nightsong” by Ari Berk. This breathtaking picture book illustrated by mega-bestseller Loren Long, is about a young bat setting off into the world using only his good sense! Sense is the song you sing out into the world, and the song the world sings back to you. To access the trail: Enter Maury County Park and continue straight on the main park road. Pass the Kids’ Kingdom playground on the right, and continue straight up the hill. Halfway up the hill, there is a trailhead with parking on the right. The Storybook Trail features storybooks presented on child-height panels, along a short accessible trail to promote adult-child interaction around books and nature in a healthy, outdoor activity. Books are rotated monthly, so there is always a new, seasonal story to enjoy.

President James K. Polk Home & Museum

Polk Presidential Hall will host a new, original exhibition guest curated by Dr. Tim Johnson of Lipscomb University, author of For Duty and Honor: Tennessee’s Mexican War Experience. The exhibition is funded in part by the Tennessee Wars Commission. This exhibition will bring together artifacts from the Polk Home’s collection as well as institutions around Tennessee, including the Tennessee State Museum and Tennessee State Library and Archives, to tell the story of Tennesseans in the Mexican-American War. Make plans to experience this temporary exhibition as a part of your Polk Home tour or on its own. Group reservations are also available!
