Nell Parsley Hood, age 92, resident of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at NHC Transitional Care Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 9th at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Jody Pritchett officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, June 8th from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
A native of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late S. L. Parsley and the late Bessie Byrd Parsley. She graduated from Central High School and was a longtime member of Southgate Church of Christ. She was married to John Hood, SFC, U.S. Army Retired for 61 wonderful years who preceded her in death in 2010. Nell volunteered at Maury Regional Medical Center for several years. She was a kind lady who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Nelda Jean (Joe) Morgan of Union City, TN; brother, S.L. (Mittie) Parsley of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Penny Hood (Will) Green of Columbia, TN, Erin Morgan of Union City, TN, LTC Retired Clay (Brigitte) Morgan of Argyle, TX, Drew (Tiffany) Morgan of Aiken, SC, and LTC Brad (Becky) Morgan of Miami, FL; great-grandchildren: MacKenzie Morgan, Addison Morgan, Aiden Morgan, Ali Morgan, Knox Morgan, Emanuel Morgan, Jacob Morgan, Liam Boykin, Meagan Green, Hannah Green, and Katherine Green; and sister in law, Nancy Hood Gray.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Richard “Rick” Hood, and siblings, Herbert Parsley, George Parsley, Bill Parsley, and Jane Davis.
