Anna Kay Ludy, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, at the age of 74.
Born on September 2, 1950, in Westfir, Oregon to Jesse and Edna Evans, Anna Kay was the oldest and only daughter of four kids. She is survived by her three brothers and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anna Kay lived a life full of love, creativity, and care for others. She was the devoted wife of the late Lorrel Ludy, with whom she shared a wonderful forty-four years of marriage living in Soldotna, Alaska and raising their family while living a life of adventure.
She is survived by her two daughters, Virginia (Glenn) Bouton Jr and Elizabeth (Kanden) Kimbrough. She was a proud and loving grandmother to twelve grandchildren: Tyler, Lillian, Katelyn, Evelyn, Vivian, Isaac, Serenity, Trinity, Kymani, Kade, Kyrie, and Kasia. She took every opportunity to hug on them while saying, “A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”
Professionally, Anna worked as a cook at Tustumena Elementary where she enjoyed fulfilling her love for cooking and serving the students. Later she became a CNA where her compassion and dedication made a lasting difference in the lives of many.
Outside of her work, she was a gifted artist known for her paintings and her commitment to learning and growing in her craft. She took art classes at the local community college and could often be found in her sewing room, paintbrush in hand, bringing beauty to life on canvas.
Anna was a woman of faith and found joy in the simple, meaningful rhythms of life. She loved to cook and her two daughters often joked about how she “cooked to feed an army”, gardening in her high tunnel each summer, tending her flower beds and porch flower pots each spring, and preserving the bounty of the season.
Some of her happiest times were spent canning vegetables and smoking the salmon her family caught off the beach in Alaska, blending tradition with love in every jar and fillet.
Anna Kay was loving, loyal, and carried a feisty resilience that made her who she was. She could make you laugh, set you straight, and comfort you-all in the same conversation.
Her life reflected her favorite verse: “The LORD is good to all, and His mercy is over all that He has made.” – Psalm 145:9
Anna Kay’s legacy lives on in the beauty she created, the care she gave, and the love she poured into her family. She will be so deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
For those grieving her loss, we find peace in the promise of Jesus: “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life.” – John 5:24
Anna’s family is asking in lieu of flowers to please pray for the family and or donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or Dementia Society of America.
