Anthony Wayne Choate, 62, passed away peacefully in Hohenwald on January 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on March 28, 1962, the middle child of Patty (Kennemur) Choate and the late Ralph Edsil Choate. Anthony was named after the famed revolutionary general Anthony Wayne.

Anthony was a true Mopar enthusiast and a natural mechanic. He relished the title of “jack of all trades.” His ingenuity allowed him to fix anything brought before him, a skill he wore with a quiet but unmistakable pride. His interests extended to hunting, fishing, and motorcycles-essentially if it had a motor, it captivated him.

Family and friends will remember Anthony as someone who loved deeply and cared profoundly for those around him. His affection for his family was rivaled only by his reliability and trustworthiness. Anthony’s integrity shone through in all areas of his life, making him a figure of steadfast dependability. Never one to shy away from an opportunity to lend a helping hand, Anthony made a lasting impact on everyone he met.

In addition to his father, Ralph, he was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Tillman and Perry Choate.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Lisa Choate; his beloved children, Joshua Choate (Christina), Jason Matthew Kennedy (Valerie), Brett David Kennedy (Michelle), Christa Jean Mashburn (Joseph), Toni Lynn McFly (Lucas), and Amber Groves; his mother, Patty Choate; his sisters, Cindi Baxter (Mike) and Melinda Stone (Lonnie); fifteen grandchildren; special friends, Chuck Taylor, Darryl & Nicki King, David McCullum, and Bill Meek; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Visitation with the Choate family will be held in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with the funeral immediately following. Burial will follow in Davis-Oak Grove Cemetery.

McDonald Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Choate family.
