Barbara Nell Johnson Dycus, 92, retired owner and operator of Duncan’s Grocery at Williamsport, died Friday, August 19, 2022 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care.

Born October 22, 1929 in Midlothian, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Claude Lee Johnson and the late Annie Mae Saunders Johnson.

On July 24, 1947, she married Leslie Walker Dycus, Jr. who preceded her in death on March 18, 1993. She was a 1946 graduate of Midlothian High School. Earlier in life, she worked for Evan’s Department Store. She loved crocheting and making afghans for all of her family. Mrs. Dycus enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states, as well as Mexico and Canada. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed book clubs, Thomas Kincade calendars, and puzzles. Mrs. Dycus was a member of Greenfield Bend Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Dycus (Bobby) Anderson of Williamsport; Nancy Dycus (Neil) Delk of Williamsport; son, Robert W. (Lois) Dycus of Williamsport; grandchildren, Amy Trawick, Jill (Neil) Ford, Jon (Shawna) Dycus, Alison (Corey) Buhler, Angie (Randy) Marrisett, Jason (Krista) Delk, and Neil Ann (Wiley) Moody; and great-grandchildren, Alex (Julia), Westin, Tucker, Beckett, Aleigha, Breanna, Callie, Erin, Kree, Alley, Cameron, Blake, Hunter, Madison, Dempsey, Ellison, Tyson, and Kinze.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Steve Holmes and Bobby Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Bend Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Neil Delk, Jason Delk, Jon Dycus, Neil Ford, Corey Buhler, Wiley Moody, and Randy Marrisett. Honorary pallbearers include Westin Ford, Tucker Ford, Alex Ford, Kree Dycus, Billy Johnson, and men of Greenfield Bend Church of Christ.

The family suggests memorials to Greenfield Bend Cemetery, c/o Neil Delk, 4462 Greenfield Bend Road, Williamsport, TN 38487.
