Betty Jean Johnson Holden Fisher, age 83, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Monday morning, February 12, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Betty, born on September 12, 1940, in Maury County, Tennessee, was the daughter of the late Hughes Holden and the late Opal Gordon Holden.

Raised in Maury County, she later moved to Nashville and dedicated thirty years of her life as a computer programmer analyst at Tennessee State University. Upon retiring, she returned to her roots in Maury County. She was a former member of Cedar Hill Church of Christ in Hampshire and a current active member of Graymere Church of Christ, where she enthusiastically participated in the Clothes Closet ministry.

Known for her zest for life, Betty enjoyed playing cards, particularly Rook and Bridge. She possessed a green thumb and took delight in tending to her cherished roses and numerous plants. Her love for travel led her to explore forty-eight states, with plans to conquer the remaining two. She also traveled internationally including Panama, Europe, and the Caribbean.

She is survived by her daughter, Victoria (Peter) Stephens of Arlington, VA, brother, Coben Ray (Betty) Holden of Columbia, TN, grandchildren, Bethany Stephens, Krystal Stephens, nephew, Dennis (Suzanne) Holden, great niece and nephews, Brown, Sophie, Coben, and aunt, Doris Dye.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Fisher.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with James Barnes, Andrew Phillips, and Peter Stephens officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dennis Holden, Peter Stephens, Charles Dye, Tim Flowers, Brown Holden, and Chris Hudson.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Cedar Hill Cemetery c/o Ronnie Hines: 3670 Campbellsville Pike, Columbia, TN 38401 or Bailey’s Cemetery in Mt. Joy, Tennessee.
