Billy “Bill” Stewart, age 75, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on January 4, 2025.
Bill was born on December 13, 1949, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, to the late Abraham Lincoln Stewart and Nellie Virginia Parks Stewart.
A man of many talents, Bill was known for his resourcefulness and creativity, particularly with the unique light fixtures he crafted. He had an infectious sense of humor that could brighten anyone’s day and was often the go-to “personal IT guy” for friends and family. Bill’s servant’s heart knew no bounds—he was always eager to lend a hand, whether it was fixing a roof, painting a house, or helping others in countless ways.
Bill was deeply committed to his faith and community. A proud member of Highland Park Baptist Church, he served as a deacon, the audio-visual coordinator, and was a gifted interpreter, signing songs with grace and fluidity. His contributions to the church were a reflection of his steadfast devotion to the Lord and love for his fellow congregants.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Bill honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Despite living with Alpha-1, he faced life’s challenges with strength and resilience, serving as an inspiration to all who knew him.
Above all, Bill cherished his family. He was married for 48 wonderful years to the love of his life, Donna Stewart. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and dedication. He was an incredibly proud father to his three children: Jeff Stewart, Ashley David (Alicia) Stewart, and Cheyenne (Ben) Danter, and a devoted grandfather to Jamie Stewart, Jake Stewart, Cole Stewart, Dylan Stewart, and Oliver Danter.
Bill was one of nine siblings who made it to adulthood and is survived by his beloved sisters Bit Benson, Janie Smith, and Millie “Sis” Widmer. He is also survived by his brother-in-law: David (Candy) Yount. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Marie Flint, Rozeila Riggs, Mary Jo Jackson, Jackie Moore, Joyce Carroll Stewart, and Johnny Ray Stewart.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. A celebration of life will follow at 12:00 PM, officiated by Anthony Muston.
