Billy Marvin Wauford, age 86, a longtime resident of Williamsport, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at his residence.

Bill was born on April 1, 1937, in Triune, Tennessee, to the late Jordan Bartley Wauford and the late Mary Jane Ryan Wauford.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a dedicated student of industrial engineering and liberal arts. For 15 years, Bill worked as an aircraft mechanic for TransWorld (TWA) Airlines. On June 22, 1958, he married the love of his life, Jo Ann Lawhon. From 1977 until just recently, Bill owned and operated a successful home repair business, touching the lives of many people in the greater Maury Country region.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bill was a devoted member of Williamsport Baptist Church. He served as a Sunday school superintendent and usher for many years, leaving an indelible mark on the church community, until such time as his health prevented him from continuing his service.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jo Ann Wauford, and his two sons, Scott (Leigh Anne) Wauford of Columbia, TN, and Brent Wauford of Danville, AL.

He is also survived by his brothers, Ed Wauford of Detroit, MI, Allen Wauford of Columbia, TN, and J.B. Wauford of Murfreesboro, TN. Bill’s legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Lindsey (Brandon) Strickland, Emmalyn (Garrett) Lipe, Laura Keel (Tyler) Laymon, Lisa (Steven) Pope, Wesley (Jean) Wauford, Brooke Wauford, and Hunter (Shia) Pursell. His great-grandchildren include Carson Strickland, Riley Strickland, Katie Lipe, Ruth Lipe, Leah Lipe, Lizzie Lipe, Isaac Lipe, Nick Lipe, Josephine Lipe, Bryce Keel, Dawson Pope, Baylee Wauford, and Kaiden Pursell.

Bill is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Jordan and Mary Jane Wauford, his brother, Jim Wauford, and his sister, Elizabeth Campbell.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share their memories on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 pm, at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Bill’s life will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM, with Rick Points, Mark Jones, and Allen Lancaster officiating and with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
