Billy Pope

Billy Adell Pope, age 68, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 12th at 2:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, September 11th from 2:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Billy was born April 24, 1953 in Maury County and was the son of the late Daniel Odell Pope and the late Nettie Jane Prince Carpenter. He grew up in the Rose Hill area in Giles County and was of the Christian Faith. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching Westerns on TV. He worked as a machine operator for Hyperion Seating in Lewisburg. Billy never met a stranger, loved talking with people, and enjoying breakfast at Cracker Barrel. He had a passion for sports, coaching little league baseball, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Vols fan. He had a special love for his dog “Lady,” but most of all loved his family who will miss him dearly.

Billy is survived by his children, Jeremy Pope of Ft. Worth, TX, Tabitha (William) Brewer of Summertown, and Justin (Ashley) Pope of Columbia; brother, Anthony Pope of Columbia; grandchildren, Will Pope, Kailey Pope, Emaley Pope, Hailey Brewer, Kinsley Brewer, Hayden Pope, Chance Brewer, Daniel Pope, and Millie Pope.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patty Pope; and sisters, Karen Hickman and Laura Parrish.

Pallbearers will be Gene Fields, Chris Fields, Anthony Pope, Jr., Shane Riggins, Steven Rankin, and Hayden Barrow. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Hyperion Seating, Smith Constructors, Inc., and Weather Tamer, and Dr. Nielson.
