Bobby Allen Dial Sr., 86, retired bus driver for Shockey Tours out of Louisville, Kentucky and a resident of Smyrna, died Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Golden Swan retirement community in Smyrna.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Allen Vick officiating. Burial will follow at McCains Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday, November 22, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Born April 23, 1938 in Culleoka, TN, he was the son of the late Willie Robert Dial and the late Katherine Gower Hamlett Dial. On May 29, 1959, he married JoAn Davis Dial, and together they shared 65 wonderful years together, until her death on May 28, 2024.

Bobby proudly served in the United States Army during the Cuban Crisis from 1961 to 1963. In addition to being a bus driver for Shockey Tours for nine years, where he drove in all 50 states, he also had a roofing company and a lawn care service. Mr. Dial owned his own tractor and trailer and even did carpentry work. He was a member of Stewarts Creek Church of Christ.

He is survived by his son, Bobby Allen (Teresa) Dial, Jr. of Smyrna; grandson, Brandon (Katelyn) Dial of Murfreesboro; step-grandson, Casey (Grey) Todd of Murfreesboro; two great-granddaughters, Avery Dial and Emerson Dial; brothers, Donald Wayne (Judy) Dial and James Marshall Dial; sisters-in-law, Laura Dial and Barbara Dial; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Ann Gifford; brothers, Charles Dial and Billy Gower Dial.

Active pallbearers will be Casey Todd, Perry Pugh, Frankie D. Harwell, and Heath Richards. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Harwell and Joe James.
