Boyd Doyle Jr., a man of love and friendship, passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 75 in Lexington, TN.
Born on May 14, 1949, in Hohenwald, TN, Boyd was a man whose life was characterized by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Boyd was the cherished husband of Dolores Jean Bates Doyle, with whom he shared 55 years of love and companionship. Together, they raised two daughters, Ellie (Kevin) Hines and Andrea (Neal) Hendon, who were the pride of his life. He was the proud grandfather to Hannah (Ray) Lawrence, Tyler (Nicole) Ashworth, Laken (Jayla) Hall, Kaiden (Taylor) Hall, Gaven (Cami) Hall, Alivia (Tristan) Bush, and Broden (Allie) Hall, and great-grandfather to Malia, Jaxon, Kenzlee, Gabriel, Noah, Annistyn, Slade, Stratton, Journee, Brexlee, Bristol, Briggs, and the soon-to-arrive baby Rowen. His legacy will live on through the laughter and love of these precious souls.
Boyd followed in the footsteps of his late parents, Boyd Doyle Sr. and Anna Lou Trull Doyle, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. Though he was predeceased by his brother George Doyle, his memory is lovingly cherished by George’s wife, Margie.
A proud veteran, Boyd served his country with honor and distinction in the Marine Corps. His commitment to service continued long after his military days, as he became a dedicated volunteer firefighter and an active member of the American Legion and the Jaycees. His involvement in these organizations was not just about service; it was about building a stronger community and forming lasting friendships.
Boyd was a man of many talents and interests. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found peace and contentment in the great outdoors. His skilled hands were as comfortable wielding a fishing rod as they were crafting beautiful pieces of woodworking, a hobby that brought him immense joy and satisfaction. Boyd was also a dedicated lifelong fan of University of Tennessee Football, cheering on his team with the same passion he approached all aspects of his life.
Those who knew Boyd will remember him as a loving, kind, and friendly man. He had an effortless way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued, and his presence could light up a room. Boyd’s love for his family was unparalleled, particularly for his grandbabies, who could always count on him for a hug, a story, or a lesson in life.
A celebration of life service with military honors will be held at a later date. Adair Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.adairfuneralservices.com
