Carl Smith Leland, 86, long time resident of Westover Park in Columbia, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Carl was born on September 21, 1938 in Lawrence County, TN to the late Roy Leland and the late Ruby Evelyn Smith Leland.
He graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1956 and married Donna Harris on January 1, 1960. Carl started working for GE in 1974 and retired from Fedders Corporation in 2001. He enjoyed woodworking and was a former Mason with the Columbia Masonic Lodge #31 F&AM for 40 years, a former board member for Habitat for Humanity and a long time member and former deacon at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Donna Harris Leland of Columbia; daughter Carla (Shawn) Payne of Columbia; son Marty (Renee) Leland of Columbia; five grandchildren Chelsea (Brock) Talley, Allye Leland, Caitlynn Payne, Caleb Payne (Janna Hardy), and Shelby (Jamie) Hawley; two great-grandchildren Harper Talley and Isabelle Talley; brother in law George (Dianne) Harris; sister in law Nora Williams Harris; and several cousins.
