Carol Jean Groves Roberts, age 88, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, former longtime resident of Cross Plains, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 25, 2026, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home, Columbia, Tennessee, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. A graveside service will also be held on Friday at 2:30 PM at Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Tennessee.
Born on September 27, 1937, in Springfield, Tennessee, Carol was the daughter of the late Guy Groves and the late Virginia Wright Groves. Carol lived a full and beautiful life marked by kindness, generosity, and a deep love for her family. She had a special appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed traveling, camping in the RV, and tending to her garden. A talented cook, she loved preparing meals for her family and especially cherished teaching her grandchildren how to cook. Carol also loved playing cards and sharing laughter around the table with those she loved most. She had a true servant’s heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Diane) Blackwell, grandchildren, Ryan (Heidi) Blackwell, Brooke (Jason) Koteras, Hannah (Quaci) Blackwell, adopted granddaughter, Tabbetha Pitt Butterworth and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Roberts, brothers, Billy Groves, Wallace Groves, sister, Joann Groves, and adopted daughter, Rita Pitt.
