Clifford E. Johnson, Sr., 92, retired Lab Inspector for Union Carbide for 36 years and resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born February 11, 1930 in Shelby County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Nolan Marshall Johnson and the late Willie Lee Pritchard Johnson.

On December 16, 1949, he married Dorothy Derryberry Johnson who preceded him in death on October 5, 2018.

Right out of high school, Mr. Johnson worked for Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed farming, working with tractors and animals. Mr. Johnson was a member of Southgate Church of Christ.

Survivors include his son, Clifford (Kay) Johnson, Jr. of Columbia; daughters, Diane (David) White of Columbia; Rosemary (Joe) Macer of Columbia; Tammy Kaye Johnson of Columbia; grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Jeanna Frommel, Regan (Brian) Hartley, Adam David White, Matthew (Melody) Macer, Cassandra (Josh) Turner, Zeb (Dara) Macer, Jonathan (Natalie) Macer; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Johnson, Krislin Johnson, Luke Oliver, Adeline Oliver, Charlie Frommel, Hunter Dendy Johnson, Brennon White, Kasen White, Paxton White, Sebastian Lamphear, Jack Turner, Dean Turner, Kate Turner, Gatlin Macer, Waverly Macer, Nora Macer, Lilli Claire Macer, and Shepherd Macer; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Johnson; sister, Bettye Hamby; brother-in-law, Wayne Derryberry; and sisters-in-law, Ludie Burns and Rebecca Harmon.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral with his son-in-law, Joe Macer, and Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 3:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Adam White, Brennon White, Christopher Johnson, Jonathan Macer, Zeb Macer, Matthew Macer, Jay Burns, and Kasen White. Honorary pallbearers include Gary Butler, Jerry Barber, Barry Brown, Jerry Adkison, Joe Spann, and Jw Gilliam.
