Connie May Nolin Woody, age 70, of Hohenwald, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Born on May 17, 1956, at the Boyce Clinic in Hohenwald, Connie was the daughter of the late Posey Russell and Martha Ellen Willett. She graduated from Lewis County High School with the Class of 1975, where she proudly served as a member of the marching band’s color guard.
Connie was a woman whose heart was always devoted to others. She cared more about the well-being of those around her than she ever did herself, a quality that defined both her life and her career. For more than 25 years, she compassionately served as a Certified Nursing Assistant, providing comfort and care to countless patients and families. Throughout her life, she also worked with EMS, in local factories, and faithfully volunteered with the Lewis County Food Bank, always finding ways to serve her community.
Those who knew Connie will forever remember her infectious smile and unmistakable laugh that could brighten any room she entered. She was funny, stubborn, delightfully clumsy, and known by family and friends as a fearless-if somewhat crazy-driver. Many joked that she had nine lives. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially a plate of turnip greens, a big tomato sandwich, and adding another pair of shoes to her collection. Above all else, however, Connie treasured her family. They were the greatest blessing of her life, and she loved them with all her heart.
Following the passing of her first husband, T.J. Nolin, in 2017, Connie found love again and married Joseph Woody on January 5, 2023. Together they shared a life filled with companionship, laughter, and love.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Woody; brother, Gene “Posey” Russell (Shirley); sisters, Barbara James, Patsy Griner (Joe), and Bonnie Cothran; nieces and nephews, Mike Parker (Susan), Michelle Nichols, Ronnie James (Cheryl), Justin Griner (Katie), Jinger Griner, Tanonni Garner (David), Lisa Fransen, Chad Cothran, Randy Stutts, Tammy Burlison (Dale), Ricky Runions (Carrie), and Laura Mosley; along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Earline Russell; her first husband, T.J. Nolin; sisters, Frances Stutts and Gayle Runions; and nephews, Russell James and Riley Stutts.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Connie’s life during visitation on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Downey Cemetery.
