Donnie Frank Burns, age 65, husband of Lesia Smotherman Burns, and a resident of Santa Fe, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Morgan and Michael Baker officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Knob Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Born on August 19, 1960, in Maury County, Tennessee, Donnie was the son of the late John Burns and the late Florence Westmoreland Burns. He proudly served in the United States Army. On June 2, 2010, he married Lesia, and together they shared many happy years. Donnie worked for many years as an equipment operator for both the City of Columbia and the City of Franklin before retiring. He was a member of Destiny Church.
A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his truck, his tools, and was an avid animal lover, especially his dogs. Donnie was known for his good-natured joking and his fondness for a Diet Sundrop.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, McKinley “Bree” Rorie, X’Zayvion “Zay” Rorie, Vanessa Smotherman, Laynie Plant, and Tristan Orr, brother, Ronnie (Sherry) Burns, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
