Dorothy Ann Sweeney Campbell, 75, a resident of Columbia and secretary to the principal at Columbia Central High School, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Dorothy was born on August 26, 1948 in Cowan, TN to the late William Carter Sweeney and the late Margie Sneed Sweeney.

She married John William “J.W.” Campbell on June 4, 1966 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2023. She graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1966 and started a career there as the secretary for 57 dedicated years. Dorothy was a great cook, a very giving person, loved flower gardening, especially roses and her dog Hooey. Her greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren that were pride and joy.

Survivors include her sons, Jeremy Campbell and Jason (Stacy) Campbell; six grandchildren, William Coy Campbell, Mason Van Campbell, Jason Nicholas Campbell, Emily Grace Campbell, Tanner (Maci) Warf, and Taylor (Daniel) Davis; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Warf, Dawson Davis and Oaklyn Davis; siblings, Mike Sweeney, Kay (Fred) Haan, and John (Mary Paul) Sweeney; sister in law, Jonell Sweeney; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Judy Sweeney, Jean Hight, Nancy Bell and Jerry Sweeney.

A dedication and celebration of life service will be Wednesday, March 27th, 2024; Tree Dedication will be from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM at the outdoor classroom between Whitthorne Middle School and Columbia Central High School; a Celebration of Life will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Event Entrance at Columbia Central High School. Just as Mrs. Campbell would, please bring a dessert to share and a story to tell.
