Douglas-Alexander-Slayman

Douglas Alexander Slayman, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Hohenwald, Tennessee. Born on September 1, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late William and Mary Montgomery McCord, Douglas’s early years were filled with the warmth of a loving family and the beginnings of lifelong passions. Doug proudly served his country in the United States Army and carried with him the value of dedication and hard work.

In 2008, he married Judy Keutzer Slayman, who became his partner in life’s journey for 18 cherished years. Together, they nurtured a blended family that included his children, Michael Slayman and Kimberley Slayman-Woodie, and stepdaughter, Kathy Fillhart. Douglas is survived by his brother, Ed Slayman, and he fondly remembered his late siblings William, Tom, Michael Slayman, and Martha Cathy, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.

A proud grandfather, Douglas delighted in the achievements and growing adventures of his grandchildren Jayden, Tyler, Emma, Josey, Kai, and Barbara. His kind spirit and loving nature were a source of joy and inspiration to them, as they were to all who knew him.

Professionally, Douglas dedicated many years of service to the Turney Center, where his work ethic was deeply valued. His true calling, however, was as a gunsmith—a craft he approached with the precision and respect it deserved. Douglas’s skill in repairing and fixing guns was matched only by his enthusiasm for collecting knives.

A full military service will take place at Parkers Crossroads. A date will be announced once it becomes available. Adair Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.adairfuneralservices.com
