Douglas Milton Taylor, 87, retired Pharmacist for over 60 years and resident of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

Born November 11, 1935, in Sharon, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Douglas B. Taylor and the late Mary Thomas Roberts Taylor.

He was a 1958 graduate of the University of Tennessee Pharmacy School and a retired major in the Tennessee State Guard. He was an avid reader who loved to hunt, watch University of Tennessee football, study history and theological topics, and he loved a good debate. Those who knew him, know he loved to joke around, share good stories, helped anyone who needed anything, and he never met a stranger. Mr. Taylor was a member of North View Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, whom he married February 23, 1964, Sandra Morgan Taylor of Columbia; daughter, Laurie Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Douglas (Susanne) Taylor of Pleasant View, Tennessee; brother, Stanley (Beata) Taylor of Clinton, Tennessee; niece, Melissa Taylor and two great-nephews; nephew, Justin Taylor (deceased); and several brothers-in-law and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at North View Church of Christ with Jeremy Butt and Mike Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Active pallbearers will be Randell Rummage, Hoyt Green, Joe Delk, Jason Abbott, Dean Dial, Hal Holcomb, Ronnie Merideth, Doug Balthaser, Rex Henson, Jeremy Cothran, John Smith, Jimmy Gardner, and Lynn Isenberg. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Ray and the Deacons of North View Church of Christ.
