Edward Dewey Peper, Sr., 77, retired employee of Commonwealth Edison, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at his residence in Columbia.

Born September 1, 1945 in Montgomery County, Illinois, he was the son of the late Henry Dewey Peper and the late Fern Irene Seaton Peper.

An avid collector, he collected coins, guns, and model trains. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, spending time with his family, donating blood, and understood the benefits of community. For over 20 years, he loved bee keeping.

Survivors include his wife, whom he married December 30, 1968, Sandra Kay Bristow Peper of Columbia; children, Michael (Karen) Peper of Girard, Illinois; Jonathon (Rebecca) Peper of Laramie, Wyoming; Brian (Andrea) Peper of Harvel, Illinois; Christina (Jerry) Lacy of Pinckeyville, Illinois; Edward Peper, Jr. of Marysville, Ohio; Kay (James) Murphy of Columbia; Jamie Peper of Columbia; Anthony (Crystal) Peper of Farmersville, Illinois; Sara (Richard) Coulton of Orlando, Florida; Dorothy (Kort) Oldenburg of Farmingdale, Illinois; grandchildren, Joshua, Tiffany, Kaitlyn (Ryan), Kara (Jay), Kailey, Connor, Cole, Bastian, Molly, Justin, Matthew, Alyshia, Olivia, Ava, Ethan, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Jameson, Henry; siblings, Lester (Lois) Peper, Charles Peper; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Peper, Albert Peper, Donald Peper, and Harold Peper.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and grandsons.
