Floyd Howard Holland, 91, a resident of Columbia, TN, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at his home.

Floyd was born on August 6, 1933 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to the late Floyd Howard Holland and the late Dorothy Della Pickles Holland.

He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1951 and then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He continued his education at Vanderbilt University, graduating in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Floyd was recruited straight out of Vanderbilt by Phillips Petroleum Company and began his career in the oil industry. On April 27, 1962 he married Nettie Lou Lindsey Holland, who preceded him in death on January 25, 2008.

In 2002, Floyd retired after spending his entire 43 year career with Phillips 66. He and his wife were also co-founders and co-owners of Holland’s Pharmacies, Inc. He was a 32nd degree mason of The Scottish Rite, a Master Mason of The York Rite, a zealous Vanderbilt sports fan, especially basketball, was a life-long jogger, avid reader, Bible scholar and music lover. As a devoted husband and loving father, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Floyd, along with his wife were very active in serving the Lord at The First Baptist Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They were the directors of the senior adult ministry in the church, and Floyd served as a volunteer driver in the church’s bus ministry.

He is survived by one daughter, Catherine Anne Holland of Fort Worth, TX; and one son, Howard Holland also of Texas; twin brother, Walter Holland of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters-in-law, Jo Carol Gassaway, Lynda Lindsey, and Connie Holland; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Henry Holland and Richard Holland; sister, Alice Jane Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Russell Pigg officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be nephews David Holland, John Holland, Lanny Holland and Dave Palmeri. Honorary pallbearer will be Kip Holland.

Due to a lifetime of serving God, family, community and country, Floyd will be missed by many.
