George Layne McClendon, Jr., age 56, husband of Stephanie Wright McClendon, and a resident of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born on September 18, 1969, in Maury County, Tennessee, George was the son of the late George McClendon, Sr. and the late Betty Lou Rogers McClendon.
George was a talented craftsman who loved working with his hands. He was a skilled knife maker and enjoyed martial arts, target practice, and drawing. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. His quiet strength, creativity, and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Stephanie, of twenty-seven years, he is survived by his sons, Alex McClendon, Logan McClendon, Brandon McClendon, and grandchildren, Mia McClendon and Eric Jarvis.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steven McClendon and sisters, Karen Wray and Sharon Boshers.
