Jeffrey Darrell Baker, age 57, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, just two days shy of his 58th birthday.
Born on March 16, 1964, in Columbia, Jeff was the son of Linda Ann Hickman Tomlin and the late James D. “Sambo” Baker.
Over the years, he worked for numerous paving companies in Columbia, most recently, Volunteer Paving where he was employed for several years. Jeff was a wild soul who loved his car, racing, and being outdoors. He had a special love for his beloved dogs, and above all, loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who affectionally called him Papa J.
In addition to his mother, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Dareain Baker (D’Monte Martin) of Columbia, son, Zachary Baker of Columbia, sisters, Holly (Matthew) Tapper of Columbia, Terri Jo (Kevin) Boyd of Columbia, grandchildren, Ansleigh Martin, Addyson Martin, the love of his life, Stephanie Baker of Columbia, special sister in law, Janie (Larry) Billington, aunt, Dianne (George) Harris, nieces, Elizabeth (Jerid) Metcalf, Paxlee Harris, great-niece, Emma Metcalf, and numerous other extended family members.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his stepbrother, Charlie Tomlin, cousin, Rusty Baker, and grandmother, Katherine Thompson.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.tnfunerals.com
Pallbearers will be Dwight Holt, Steve Wiss, Rick Patton, John Carson, Aaron Pease, Bobby Shields, and Larry Billington. Honorary pallbearers will include the employees of Volunteer Paving.
