Joyce Lee Hudson, age 92, passed away on February 9, 2025. She was born on June 13, 1932, in Hampshire, TN, to the late Warren Smith Carroll and Lacey Bell Stokes. Joyce was the youngest of 13 siblings and grew up in a large, close-knit family. She valued home and family above all else and lived a life centered around love, devotion, and simple joys.
At the age of 14, Joyce married James Alvin Hudson, and together they built a life filled with love and commitment. They remained by each other’s side for 62 years until his passing in 2008. She took great pride in being a dedicated wife and homemaker, always ensuring that her home was warm and welcoming.
Joyce was happiest in the kitchen, where she spent countless hours cooking and baking for her family. She had a special talent for making meals that brought comfort to those she loved. In addition to her love for cooking, she was an avid quilter, spending many peaceful hours crafting beautiful quilts that would be treasured for years to come.
Mrs. Joyce is survived by her son James Douglas Hudson, son Warren (Michelle) Hudson of Centerville, TN, daughter Therese Villareal (Joe), seven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Alvin Hudson, four brothers, and nine sisters.
A graveside service will be held at Lewis County Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 10, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
