Karen Jo Workman

Karen Jo “Buffy” Workman, age 63, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN.

She was born on January 30, 1958, in Mt. Pleasant, to her parents, Eugene and Katie Odom.

Jo was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. She worked many years at Weather Tamer and Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing. Later she wanted to join the medical field and started working at Maury Regional Medical Center, in Sterile Processing until she became disabled. Jo was diagnosed with a muscle disease in 2017. Everyone who knew Jo knew her family was her love. Her grandchildren were her life. She was so proud of all three of them. Jo loved riding in the wagons, spending time with her family, and traveling. She loved new adventures and was always ready for something new. Jo was blessed with a large loving family.

She is survived by her husband: Carl Workman; children: JoAnna (Eddie) McKennon; grandchildren: Emma Kate Chapman, Eli James Chapman, Easton Luke McKennon; siblings: Janie Workman, Katherine Brown, Sharon Estes, Jeff Odom, Gay McManamon, and Shelia Patterson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Carolyn Massey, Nancy Workman, Betty Reed, Neal Odom, Ray Odom, Bobby Gene Odom, and Pam Poston.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Service will follow starting at 2:00 p.m. with Ricky Frazier and Jeff Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest at Freedom Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Adam Laws, Nicholas Laws, Noah Brown, Butler Nichols, Jacob Patterson, Mickey Odom, Brad English, and Dylan Massey.

A huge thank you to all who participated in her care. Special thanks to Dr. Choksi, Dr. Feels, Dr. Jothi, Dr. Dinaram, and each and every one of the Critical Care team who assisted her care. Medical care decisions are difficult to make but Jennifer Kennedy RN, and Brittany Hughes RN, went above and beyond to ensure communication with the family and dignity during her final hours.
