Knoxie Jane Stutts Goad, 88, homemaker, died Monday, November 14, 2022 at her residence in Columbia.

Born October 12, 1934 in Lauderdale County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late James Haywood Sutts and the late Evelyn House Stutts.

She was a graduate of Rogers High School in Green Hill, Alabama and Columbia Business College. Mrs. Goad was a charter member of Maury County Bridal and Saddle Club, Mule Day, and Genealogical Society of Maury County.

Since 1957, she has been a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Mrs. Goad was a James Madison Sparkman-UDC and Super Star at Maury Regional Medical Center. In 2004, she was the honorary “Grand Marshall” of the Mule Day Parade, and in 2011 she was the “Grand Marshall”.

Survivors include her sons, Donald (Betty) Goad of Columbia; Daniel (Diane) Goad of Columbia; grandchildren, Tiffany Goad, Rebecca (Michael) Gilbert, Dallas Goad, Natalie Goad Ernsberger; step-grandchildren, Brian (Lauren) Maxwell, Hayden Potts; daughter-in-law, Patsy Goad; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David Goad; and sister, Doris Bergob.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Gilbert, Austin Salas, Gary Thrasher, Dallas Goad, David Stutts, and Sam Hanvy. Honorary pallbearers include her very special friends, Georgia Street, Marie Jones, Cliff Allen, Wanda Robinson’s Sunday Ladies Class, and the Mule Day Committee.

The family suggests memorials to the Maury County Archives, 201 East 6th Street, Columbia, TN 38401.
