Kurt “K.O.” Regenberg, a beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, in Columbia, Tennessee, at the age of 88.

He was born on January 31, 1936, in Madison, Wisconsin, to the late Carl W. Regenberg and Frieda Schulz.

Kurt was a man of great accomplishment and service throughout his life. He earned his education at the University of Wisconsin before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Kurt embarked on a successful career as a Manager at Exxon until his well-deserved retirement.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Kurt was deeply committed to his faith and community. He was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbia, TN, where he found solace and camaraderie among fellow parishioners.

Throughout his life, Kurt exemplified the spirit of volunteerism, dedicating 26 years to Meals on Wheels across various locations including Houston, Gallatin, Franklin, and Columbia. His compassion extended further as he volunteered at Maury Regional Medical Center, operating the Shuttle van to ensure individuals could access essential medical care with ease.

Kurt’s vitality knew no bounds, as evidenced by his participation in the New York Marathon in 1993 at the age of 53. This feat underscored his enduring determination and zest for life. His athletic prowess was evident even in his youth, having excelled as an All-Conference Linebacker during his high school football days.

Kurt will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children: Susan (David Brooks) Hearn, Bill (Lisa) Regenberg, and Nancy Lazarevich; mother of his children, Judy Regenberg; cherished grandchildren: Tyler Brady, Jody Regenberg, and Greg Hearn; as well as his sister, Fritz Satterley.

He is preceded in death by his brothers: Bob Regenberg and Chuck Regenberg, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire generations to come.

A memorial service celebrating Kurt’s remarkable life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bill Wagner officiating, offering an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to honor and pay their respects to a truly remarkable individual who touched countless lives with his kindness and generosity.
