Larry Eugene Walters

Larry Eugene Walters, 77, owner of Larry Walters Livestock Hauling and resident of Columbia, died peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, January 24, 2022 in Manchester, Tennessee after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rick Blevins and Deron Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born September 25, 1944 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Raymond Walters and the late Mary Cook Walters.

He served in the United States Army. Always eager to travel, Mr. Walters enjoyed visiting historic sites, especially the Civil War. He loved spending time with his family and friends, was a UT Vols fan, and enjoyed farming. Mr. Walters was a Christian man and a member of First Family Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Tracy (Bobby) Hickerson of Manchester; grandchildren, Krystle (Toby) Howard of Omaha, Nebraska; Brooke Lee of Tullahoma; Ashley Lee of Manchester; and great-grandchild, Leo Gonzales of Tullahoma.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Jaxson Gonzales.

Active pallbearers will be Gregg Walters, Buster Walters, Mike Walters, Allen Faulkner, Randy Stanfill, Mike Cook, Rob Floyd, and Kevin Demastus. Honorary pallbearers include Gary Floyd, employees of Tennessee Valley Livestock, Hardin County Livestock, and Columbia Livestock Center.
