Lee Allen Hayes

Mr. Lee Allen Hayes, 58, former baseball and football Coach for Maury County Schools and Columbia Academy, died Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. Thomas West in Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Graymere Church of Christ with Kirk Brothers, Joe Rhodes, and John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 at Oakes and Nichols and Wednesday from 11 to the time of service at the church. Mr. Hayes was born on November 25, 1963 in Nashville, Tennessee to Mr. James Allen Hayes and the late Rita Lee Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a corrections officer at the Maury County Sheriff’s Dept. He enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching all sports with his favorites being baseball and football. He especially loved the Atlanta Braves, Tennessee Titans, and the Tennessee Volunteers. Over the years, Mr. Hayes collected sports memorabilia and, in the past, ran a sports card store named Hayes Homeplate. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member at Graymere Church of Christ.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Amy Washington Hayes; Sons, Nick (Olivia) Hayes of Florence, AL and Blake (Mady) Hayes of Chattanooga, TN; Father and stepmother, James (Linda) Hayes; Sister, Lorre Killingsworth; Sisters-in-law, Beth (Rick) Hearn and Kay (Randy) Mundy; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; special friends Perry and Mary Pugh.

Serving as pallbearers will be Perry Pugh, Lynn Goddard, Chris Conder, John McCollum, Frankie Harris, Stevie Harris, Rick Hearn, and Randy Mundy. Honorary pallbearers include all former players from Columbia Academy, Spring Hill High School, E.A. Cox, American Post 19, American Little League and Columbia Mules, all former teammates/classmates from Good Pasture Christian School, Martin Methodist, Delta State University, and all members of the Maury County Sheriff’s Department.

A very special thanks to all Emergency Medical Services, Maury Regional Medical Center, and all the medical team at St. Thomas West Neuro ICU.
