Mrs. Lena Jane Brown, age 78, wife of William A. Brown, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday morning, February 20, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A native of Maury County, Tennessee, Lena was born on June 4, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Jonas Clifford Patrick and the late Alice Frances Pillow Patrick.
She was a 1961 graduate of Carver Smith High School and married William A. Brown on July 31, 1967. She worked many years as a beautician before retiring. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Lena was an excellent baker, enjoyed doing word puzzles and loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Walena (Sid) Anderson of Culleoka, TN, Garland (Sharon) Brown of Columbia, TN, Dexter (Ronda) Brown of Columbia, TN, brothers, Russell (Mattie) Patrick of Lancaster, SC, Wayne (Jackie) Patrick of Columbia, TN, Ricky (Sylvia) Patrick of Columbia, TN, sisters, Vera Merritt of Nashville, TN, Chlora (Garfield) Nicholson of Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Haley Meriwether, Erin Brown, Ashlan Brown, Tyler Brown, McKenna Brown, Nicholas Brown, great-grandchildren, Jace Branch and Melina Martinez, brothers in law, Lamar (Pam) Duke, Joe Cornelius, sister in law, Norma J. Hutchinson, maternal aunt, Anna M. Primm, paternal aunt, Geneva Patrick, and good friends, Lucy Church and Eva Jane Crichton.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Patrick and sister, Barbara Cornelius.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny L. Anderson providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.tnfunerals.com
Pallbearers will be: Tyler Brown, Nicholas Brown, Brian Patrick, Joe Cornelius, Devon Cornelius, Arinson Martinez, Cameriez Murphy, and Cameron Nicholson. Flower girls will include granddaughters and nieces.
