LeRoy Kennemer, 87, of Columbia, TN, passed away quietly in his home on 14 March 2024. He had been under the care of in-home hospice for some time. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

LeRoy was predeceased in death by his wife, Patricia Langley Kennemer of Columbia, TN; a son, David L. Kennemer of Columbia, TN; his mother, Jewel R. Kennemer (Burns) and father, RS Kennemer, both of Lawrenceburg, TN; and a brother, J. Harold Kennemer of Lawrenceburg, TN.

He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Gail Kennemer Scott of Summerville, South Carolina; two stepsons, Robin (Breanna) Langley and Kent (Leanna) Langley, of Columbia, Tennessee; two stepdaughters, Lorie Langley of Culleoka, TN and Cindy Langley of Mt. Juliet, TN; a brother, C. Levon Kennemer of Lawrenceburg, TN; nine grandchildren: Brenna DeNardo Ray, P.W. Scott, John Scott, and Sophia Scott, all of Summerville, SC; Uriah Minnidie of Mishawka, IN; Ester Burnstein of Silver Springs, MD; and Marc Craig, Tonya Lewter, and Kim Workman of Columbia, TN. Six step-grandchildren, Alex Langley (Bailee), Abby Langley, and Adrianna Langley of Columbia, TN; Zack Langley of Chattanooga, TN; Mackenzi Langley of Columbia, TN; and Chelsia Langley of Mt. Juliet, TN; five great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren (with one soon to-be-born).

LeRoy is loved by all of them, and he loved them back so much. All will try to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a tender place in their hearts.

LeRoy was a U.S. Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force from 1955-1969. He lived and traveled all over the world during his tenure. After serving, he was a Machine Operator for 29 years at Union Carbide in Columbia, TN. He was hard-working his whole life even in retirement, and enjoyed gardening and yard work, lively conversation, and eating a good meal.

While still able, he enjoyed participating in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, investing in their futures whenever and however he could. LeRoy was always helping people, and often could be found taking care of simple chores for folks just because he knew it would help them. He loved giving to others and would often save gently used things to pass on to people who could use them. His sense of humor was contagious especially when poking fun at himself. He stood staunchly for his beliefs wherever he went.

To honor LeRoy’s memory and celebrate his life, visitation and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Williams Funeral Home & Crematory in Columbia, TN. Visitation will be at 11:00 am and funeral services at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, TN. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in LeRoy’s name to the Veteran’s Association of America, an organization he strongly supported.

Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences can be given to the family at williamsfh.com.
