Lloyd Thomas Caruthers, age 67, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 22, 1955, in Maury County, Thomas was the son of the late William James Caruthers and the late Mattie Bell Walker Caruthers.
He was a 1976 graduate of Carver Smith High School and worked fourteen years for Maury County Highway Department before retiring in 2014. Thomas was a member of Macedonia Church of Christ. He was an avid San Francisco ‘49ers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Omega Caruthers, brothers, James Allen (Mildred) Caruthers, Danny Wayne Caruthers, sisters, Minnie D. (Samuel) Davis, Renater (Anthony) Webster, Patricia Martin, stepchildren, Antonio Martin, Britton Harris, Houston D. Harris, Jonathan Harris, grandchild, Lavarius Harris Troup, aunts, Charlene (Eddie Joe) Bills, Nettie Frierson, Patricia Ann Frierson, Sarah Ann Frierson, sisters in law, Minnie Dale, Patricia Martin, brother in law, Dale Martin, Goddaughter, Yulette Sparkman, Godson, Lamont Sparkman, devote nephew, Omar (Hillary) Craig, devoted friend, Al Pye, friend, Richard Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wendell Walker, sister, Paulette Francis, and grandparents, John & Jesse Caruthers.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. His body will lie in state on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. https://www.tnfunerals.com
Thomas’s nephews will serve as pallbearers and nieces will serve as flower girls.
