Maria Theresa “Nita” Manning, a beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 12th, 2023.

She was born on May 2nd in Panama City, Panama to the late Vincent and Elida LaPadula. Maria became a naturalized United States Citizen in 1969.

Maria was a dedicated representative for Avon for over 40 years, touching the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. She was also a proud member of the Red Hat Ladies, where she formed many lasting friendships. Maria was an active member of the ladies group of the 1st United Methodist Church, where she regularly attended services and participated in various events.

A talented artist, Maria won several ribbons for her ceramic art and at the Fair. Before she became a homemaker, she was an accomplished dual-language typist. Maria was a spitfire and never hesitated to speak her mind when something didn’t sit well with her.

Maria is survived by her children: William Frank Manning (Brenda), Richard Manning, Dolly Attkisson, Thomas Manning Sr. (Debra), Dennis Manning (Jerrie), and Lisa Manning (Curtis Haywood) five grandsons: Matthew, Tony Jr. (Kat), Jeremy, Brennan (Casey) and Michael; 7 granddaughters: Elayne, Mindy (Phillip), Lacy (Justin), Jenny, Gail, Andrea, and Breanna (Dewayne); several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband: Herbert Manning; granddaughter: Christina; son-in-law: Jimmy Attkisson; and grandson-in-law: Eddie Beech; her parents: Vincent and Elida LaPadula; sister Yolanda; and brother-in-law: Jim Wolsiffer

The service for Maria will be on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee with her son Frank Manning officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Maria will be laid to rest next to her husband at Polk Memorial Gardens.

The pallbearers for Nita’s funeral will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
