Mary Darlene Hayes, aged 67, a woman of warmth and kindness, passed away on January 6, 2026, in her hometown of Nashville, TN. She was born on March 14, 1958, to the late Leland and Mary Frances Rodgers Turnbo.
Mary’s early years in Nashville were filled with the joys of Southern hospitality and the close-knit bonds of her family. She grew up alongside her devoted siblings, Angela Ingram (married to Jack) and Mark Turnbo (married to Donna), who together shared countless cherished memories. Mary’s heart found its match when she married her beloved husband, Douglas W. Hayes, and together they formed a blended family with son, Lucas Hart (married to Amanda). The joys of her life were further multiplied with the birth of her grandchildren, Collins and Harrison Hart, who were the apples of their grandmother’s eye.
Professionally, Mary dedicated her life to hospital administration, where her loving nature and keen organizational skills greatly contributed to the well-being of both patients and staff.
Outside of work, Mary was an avid enthusiast of ancestry, investing countless hours in tracing the roots of her family tree and connecting with distant relatives. Her love for traveling took her to many places, near and far, where she indulged in her passion for antiques, always on the hunt for a piece of history to bring into her home. But above all, Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them the value of family and the simple pleasures of life.
Mary’s life was characterized by her loving and kind nature, attributes that she effortlessly embodied and shared with everyone she encountered. Her presence was comfort, her laughter a melody, and her guidance a steady hand to those fortunate enough to know her.
